Denmark, WA

29 March-6 April 2017

For the final spot of our trip we spent a relaxing 8 nights in Denmark, visiting Boston Brewery, Rockcliffe Winery, Greens Pool, Lights Beach, Ocean Beach and Albany.  Ocean Beach Caravan Park is a great spot within walking distance to both the inlet and the beach.  Towards the back of the park is set amongst big gum trees and there are lots of kangaroos eating the plentiful grass, it really doesn’t feel like you are in a caravan park so was a nice way to finish off our trip.

Across the Nullarbor

24-29 March 2017

Before starting the long trek across the Nullarbor we spent a couple of nights at a brand new caravan park in Streaky Bay then it was a few days of long drives, first stopping along the bight on top of the Bunda Cliffs.  We had been passing a lot of cyclists, then discovered that there is a bike race, the Indian Pacific Wheel Race which is going from Fremantle to Sydney, 5500km unsupported.  It was 43º and very windy, we passed one cyclist that had stopped on the side of the road so checked that he was OK, then a bit further on one of the cyclists waved us down, he needed water and was looking quite distressed.  Shane filled up all his water containers for him and even gave him some sunscreen and electrolytes.  He still had almost 60km to go before the roadhouse.

Making it back into WA we spent a night at Fraser Range Station then on to Jerramungup.

Mt Remarkable

23-24 March 2017

We returned to the lovely Mt Remarkable, it was nice and quiet, our only visitors were the huge goannas one coming out from under the caravan, walking between our chairs then right under Tina’s chair.  It was not bothered by us at all, they weren’t all that brave though as a few that we disturbed whilst walking ran up the nearest tree.

Wallaroo, SA

21-23 March 2017

Not much to report for our brief stay in Wallaroo as we were just catching up on some chores.  We went for a short drive into Kadina for some shopping and had a few walks along the beach.
